Altair Astronomy had the pleasure of joining the Young Volunteers Summer School, a meaningful initiative by one of Cyprus’s leading charitable organizations. During our visit, we delivered two interactive presentations for the participants: "Cosmic Chronicles: Space & Time" and "Exploring Our Solar System". Through storytelling, visuals, and discussion, the students were invited to journey across space, from the Big Bang to the planets orbiting our Sun. To add a hands-on element to the day, we also brought a helioscope, giving the children a rare opportunity to safely observe the Sun. The experience aimed to inspire curiosity about the universe while encouraging young minds to dream big, look up, and keep exploring.

"Day of the Seafarer"

Altair Astronomy was invited to the University of Central Lancashire Cyprus (UCLan) to take part in the Day of the Seafarer celebrations, offering a space-themed experience for attendees of all ages. As part of the event, we presented the Thalasat project under the title "Blue & Space," highlighting the connection between space technology and the maritime world. We also brought along our inflatable dome, where visitors enjoyed immersive presentations about astronomy and the links between space and the sea, including how ancient sailors used the stars for navigation. Outside the dome, participants had the opportunity to safely observe the Sun through our helioscope, adding an exciting hands-on element to the experience. The event blended education, history, and exploration, showing how the worlds of sea and space continue to inspire and inform one another.

As night fell, the campers joined us for an astronomy session featuring guided stargazing and a relaxed storytelling presentation about constellations, planets, and the wider universe. Their curiosity and thoughtful questions made for a lively and interactive evening. The event aimed to spark interest in space and science, showing how astronomy can inspire learning and imagination at any age.

Space Paws at the Nicosia Municipality Dog Park was a heartwarming evening where the wonders of the cosmos met the joy of wagging tails. In a unique collaboration between Altair Astronomy and KeepPet, stargazers and dog lovers came together under the night sky for an event that celebrated both science and companionship. As telescopes pointed toward distant planets and stars, curious onlookers—both two-legged and four—shared a magical experience beneath the celestial dome. The park buzzed with excitement, laughter, and the occasional bark, reminding us that the universe is meant to be explored together. From space-themed moments to furry photo ops, every detail added to the charm of the night. Space Paws was more than just an event—it was a reminder that the love for the cosmos, like the love for our pets, knows no bounds!

Starry Strides at Nicosia Town Hall was a unique celebration where movement met the magic of the night sky. Amid the energy of a community run, Altair Astronomy set up a special astronomy booth that invited participants to slow down, look up, and connect with the cosmos. Through our telescopes, guests had the chance to observe Jupiter, Mars, and the Moon, adding a celestial touch to an already inspiring evening. Our space-themed merchandise and prints were also available on-site, with all proceeds going in support of the Voice for Autism Foundation. The event beautifully blended science, charity, and community spirit, showing how even in the heart of the city, the stars can bring people together. It was a night that reminded us all that space belongs to everyone, and every step forward can help light up the universe for a greater cause.

Guests of all ages gathered under the stars to observe breathtaking views of the Moon through telescopes and engage in insightful discussions about the cosmos. The event combined science, curiosity, and community spirit, creating an atmosphere of inspiration and discovery. In collaboration with the Grammar School’s enthusiastic young volunteers, the night also served a charitable purpose, raising funds in support of the Voice for Autism Foundation. It was an unforgettable experience that brought astronomy and advocacy together under one sky.

In August 2023, Altair Astronomy had the privilege of participating in a magical event held at the Ancient Paphos Odeon in collaboration with the Department of Antiquities of the Deputy Ministry of Culture. This special gathering celebrated the rare Blue Moon, offering attendees the opportunity to observe this celestial event through Altair’s telescopes. As visitors marveled at the beauty of the moon, the Paphos School of Music filled the air with enchanting melodies, creating an unforgettable experience that combined science, culture, and music under the starlit sky.

In both 2022 and 2023, Altair Astronomy had the honor of hosting Astronomy Night at The Grammar School, a special event dedicated to both science and charity. Under the night sky, students, families, and astronomy enthusiasts gathered to explore the wonders of the cosmos through our telescopes. Beyond stargazing, the event served a meaningful cause, with all proceeds donated to Voice for Autism, supporting their invaluable work. Blending education with community spirit, Astronomy Night became a celebration of curiosity and generosity, proving that the beauty of the universe is even greater when shared for a good cause.

In October 2023, Altair Astronomy had the pleasure of volunteering for EOS (Hellenic Hiking Club of Nicosia) and offering a free astronomy session in the heart of the Troodos mountains. After an incredibly scenic hike along the Artemis trail, we gathered at the Troodos square for an evening under the stars. With telescopes set up and a presentation about the wonders of the night sky, we explored planets, constellations, and deep sky objects. It was a beautiful combination of nature, hiking, and astronomy which created an incredible experience and a very unique event!
