Christos Charalambous
Founder & Director
Christos Charalambous is a Cypriot entrepreneur and project leader working across space technology, Earth observation, autonomous systems and sustainability. He is the Founder and Director of Altair Astronomy & Space and the Co-Founder and CEO of LIVIA, while pursuing an undergraduate degree in aerospace and astrophysics in the United States.
Through Altair, Christos leads the development of technical, commercial and public-impact projects spanning astronomy, remote sensing and space infrastructure. These include ORIZONTAS, a remote optical observatory programme focused on space-domain awareness; THALASAT, which applies satellite data and artificial intelligence to marine ecosystem monitoring; and a broad portfolio of astronomy education, instrumentation and public-engagement activities. His work involves defining projects, assembling and coordinating multidisciplinary teams, developing partnerships, securing funding and guiding programmes from their earliest concept through technical implementation.
At LIVIA, Christos as the CEO leads business strategy, fundraising, product direction, partnerships, pilot deployments and commercialisation. The company is developing an agricultural intelligence platform that combines autonomous drones and docking stations with multispectral imagery, satellite data, ground measurements and AI-driven decision support. Under his leadership, LIVIA has secured non-dilutive funding, established pilot opportunities and industry partnerships, and received recognition including European Innovation of the Year at Gen-E Europe, the FedEx Access Award and wins at Unicorn Pitches Cyprus and StartupCon Cyprus.
Alongside his entrepreneurial work, Christos has delivered astronomy programmes and science outreach to tens of thousands of people across Cyprus. He has represented the European Union at the G20 Youth Summit, serves as Cyprus’s National Point of Contact to the Space Generation Advisory Council, and contributes to discussions around technology policy, sustainability and the development of Cyprus’s innovation ecosystem. Born and raised in Cyprus, he now divides his time between Cyprus and the United States.
