OUR PROJECTS

Under the Altair Astronomy & Space umbrella, a number of start-up initiatives and collaborative projects are taking shape. While astronomy is at our core, our work also extends into related fields such as satellite data and other space science applications.

Thalasat

Monitoring and Visualizing Mediterranean Sea Health via Space Technologies

Thalasat is a Cyprus-born, youth-led initiative under Altair Astronomy & Space, using satellite data and AI to monitor Mediterranean sea health.

It provides near real-time insights on marine heatwaves, water quality, and coastal erosion using data from Copernicus and ECMWF. The system transforms complex environmental data into accessible visualizations for scientists, policymakers, and the public.

Thalasat supports sustainable marine governance through early-warning systems and predictive analytics. It is designed to be scalable across the Mediterranean, with initial applications in regions like Veneto.

Operating as an independent non-profit, Thalasat reinvests in conservation efforts and marine public environmental awareness.
